Disney Channel has found some big talent to entertain the little viewers of Special Agent Oso.
Mel Brooks, Sarah Chalke, Rebecca Romijn, Jenna Elfman and Freddy Rodriguez are among the stars who have signed on to provide guest voices on the animated preschool series.
The star-studded episodes will air the week of April 4 on Disney Channel’s Disney Junior block. In one episode, Brooks will play a sleepy grandfather, while in another Romijn is featured as a department store clerk. Also, Elfman plays a safety-conscious mom, Rodriguez is a health-minded dad, Chalke is a preschool director and Doris Roberts is a forgiving grandmother.
“I did Special Agent Oso because my five-year-old grandson Henry watches the show,” says Brooks. “I wanted to surprise him with an appearance.” Special Agent Oso stars Sean Astin as the voice of Oso, a stuffed panda bear who completes his missions with the help of young viewers. The show airs weekdays at 6:30 a.m and 1 p.m.
Walt Disney Animation Studios will be releasing a new short on ABC for December called Prep and Landing: Operation Secret Santa. The short will air on Tuesday, December 8th between 8pm and 9pm EST during the “Charlie Brown Christmas’ and the short will air again on Thursday, December 16th during the same time slot. The short is seven minutes long and is a sequel to last years animated story ‘Prep and Landing’.
This short film follows the comic adventures of Santa’s stealthiest elves Lanny and Wayne. In the film it is only a few short days from Christmas, Mrs. Claus voiced by the iconic Betty White, and Magee voiced by Sarah Chalke enlist Wayne voiced by Dave Foley and Lanny voiced by Derek Richardson on a secret mission. Lanny and Wayne are asked to find a mysterious item hidden deep within Santa Claus office. The intrepid duo must acquire the item in time before being discovered by the Big Guy voiced by Morgan Sheppard.
Last year we saw Wayne getting ready for an anticipated promotion and leaving Prep and Landing only to discover his former partner got the promotion instead. We are then introduced to Lanny a new rookie to train as his new partner. Their antics almost cost a young boy Timmy his Christmas, but at the last minute they save the day and give Timmy a happy Christmas.
Sarah Chalke recently starred in a short film titled “Party Guest” for the Responsibility Project. You can watch it below!
The story of a blind date that starts off promising — but for one major flaw.
Disney has announced that Prep & Landing will be making its debut on ABC on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at 8:30 – 9:00 PM (Eastern). The special focuses on Lanny and Wayne, a pair of elves in the elite “Prep & Landing” unit, which prepares homes in advance of a visit from Santa Claus. The show will star Dave Foley and Derek Richardson as Lanny and Wayne, and Sarah Chalke as Magee, the North Pole Christmas Eve Command Center Coordinator.
Santa’s elves are making a pit stop at ABC on their way from the North Pole.
Walt Disney Animation, in its first special for its sibling TV network, is prepping Prep and Landing, due late this year. Based on characters created by Chris Williams (Bolt) and produced by Pixar whiz John Lasseter, Prep looks at the high-tech North Pole Christmas Eve Command Center, where coordinator Magee (Scrubs’ Sarah Chalke) pairs disgruntled elf Wayne (Dave Foley) with eager young recruit Lanny (Derek Richardson) to prepare the world’s homes for Santa’s arrival.
ABC hopes to repeat the success it had with 2007′s DreamWorks special Shrek the Halls, which drew more than 20 million viewers. Like that special, Prep “works on two levels,” says ABC’s Vicki Dummer. For kids: “High-tech tools they use,” such as the gingerbread-man-shaped Naughty Detector. For parents: “A lot of inside jokes that are nods to classic Christmas specials.”
