I used to help out here before, and after a recent Scrubs marathon, my love for Sarah and Elliot Reid has been rekindled!

I have lots planned for the site, starting with a new look here (there is already a new upgraded layout at the gallery) and as a welcome present, I have capped the 3rd disk from S2 of Scrubs, which includes episodes 13 – 18. I am planning on completing S2 and the other unfinished series before starting on the rest of the show, so stay tuned for lots more updates asap!

For nine years “Scrubs” has managed to keep the audience laughing with its hilarious punch lines and outrageous antics. Now, the fans can relive JD and the gang’s adventures in “The Complete Ninth and Final Season” of the ABC sitcom on DVD.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will be releasing the show’s final season, complete with the season’s 13 episodes plus bonus features, including deleted scenes and bloopers.

Other features include “Scrubbing In,” a bonus feature that allows viewers to meet the newcomer actors, along with insights from creator Bill Lawrence and stars Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke; and “The Todd’s High Five Scrubs Trivia Challenge,” a contest led by Dr. Todd Quinlan (Robert Maschio) that challenges viewers to a test knowledge of all nine seasons.

The packaging of the DVD will be a delight to fans as well. It includes a collectible X-ray/Lenticular cover of the cast, official Sacred Heart Hospital ID badge in-pack, and photo booth strip of the cast.

In its ninth and final season, the show now focuses at a med school led by Lucy (Kerry Bishe), a med student who takes over the narrating of the show from JD. Donald Faison and John C. McGinley were the only cast members who came back as series regulars in the latest season.

Also starring were Eliza Couple, Michael Mosley, and Dave Franco.

The complete ninth and final season will be released September 28.

According to star Zach Braff, the long-running comedy is finished.

After nine seasons and two networks, Braff says the ABC series won’t return next year.

Posting on Facebook, Braff said to fans: “Many of you have asked, so here it is: It appears that ‘New Scrubs,’ ‘Scrubs 2.0,’ ‘Scrubs with new kids,’ ‘Scrubbier,’ ‘Scrubs without JD’ is no more. It was worth a try, but alas … it didn’t work. zb”

Braff, who played Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian on the medical series, starred in only a handful of episodes this season, which attempted to reboot the show by adding younger cast members.

An ABC representative said the network hasn’t made an official decision.

Given the program’s weak ratings this year, a return does seem unlikely, especially in light of ABC’s comedy success with its Wednesday block led by “Modern Family.”

On the season premiere of Scrubs, we got a glimpse of a very pregnant Sarah Chalke portraying the mother of J.D.’s baby. She’s actually due sometime this month, following the news of fellow series star Judy Reyes recent delivery. But while 33-year-old Canadian actress is expecting a boy soon, what exactly can we expect about her character?

Sarah Chalke talked to DVR Playground about her return to the ninth season of Scrubs, discussing what’s in store for the on-screen couple. She claims she’ll be back for a few more episodes in the future, and is excited about how her story will unfold. The actress also revealed the gender J.D. and Elliot’s baby, which is definitely something to look forward to.

Possible spoilers below!

“I’m signed on for four episodes and when I do return Elliot will get to be involved with both J.D. and the hospital,” Chalke explained. “Which is great, because the new cast is fantastic.”

Though her real-life pregnancy was written into the show, the whole story doesn’t end there. We mentioned earlier that the star’s expecting a son, but as for J.D. and Elliot?

“For Elliot and J.D. it’s a girl, for me it’s a boy,” Sarah Chalke revealed. She even talked about names she wouldn’t really want to give the baby.

“In terms of names, nothing has been picked out for both Elliot or myself, which is a problem because the [real-life] baby is coming in a few weeks and is due on Christmas. Although I feel like it would be very-J.D-like to choose “JD Jr.” even though personally I’m very anti-junior!”

Elliot will certainly have to balance her time between working in the hospital and caring for the baby once it’s out, but Sarah Chalke remains optimistic about the whole season. Scrubs has, after all, cheated cancellation several times before.

She said, “Scrubs was the best job I’ve ever had by far and after-season-after-season of “Oh God it’s Over!” it’s really kind of cool that the show gets to live on.”

The National Ledger has posted the following interview with Sarah where she discusses more about her part in “Scrubs” season 9 and how her real life pregnancy fits into it all!

Sarah Chalke has been enjoying being back in her “Scrubs” gear as Dr. Elliot Reid filming shows for the series’ Dec. 1-debuting new season “that’s centered around a med school with all these young cast members, John C. McGinley’s character (Dr. Cox), and Turk (Donald Faison). It’s been so much fun to be back and see everybody,” she says. “I’m doing around four episodes and then I’ll go have the baby. I was tired at the beginning of the pregnancy, then loaded with energy in the middle. I can feel that tired is starting to come back now.”

Chalke, who is expecting next month with her fiance, attorney Jamie Afifi, says that the show “definitely parallels real life” in terms of her pregnancy. She and Zach Braff are on hand to help launch the new version. He’s reportedly aboard for six episodes. And his character’s flash-forward at the end of last season has become true — J.D. and Elliot have married and are expecting. Chalke smilingly notes, “That flash-forward — I was obviously not pregnant at that time because we filmed it over a year ago.”

The beautiful Chalke will also be heard Dec. 1 as the voice of the elf who serves as Santa’s command center coordinator on the animated Disney special “Prep & Landing.”

“My character is a multi-tasker; she can do 10 things at once. She wears jingle-bell jewelry. And she has an obsession with scalding hot lattes — she chugs eggnog lattes in giant bowl mugs. She’s up around the clock,” describes the actress. Dave Foley also provides a star voice for the special — the first Walt Disney animation special for ABC, produced by John Lasseter.

Sarah Chalke has revealed that her real-life pregnancy will be written into Scrubs as part of an upcoming storyline.

The 32-year-old actress, who is engaged to entertainment lawyer Jamie Afifi, confirmed her pregnancy earlier this year.

Speaking to TV Guide, she said: “It’s kind of a time cut into the future, so JD and I are already married and pregnant with our first kid.

“Bill [Lawrence] was very generous to write it in, so I’m not, like, carrying a giant chart or something in front of my belly all the time.”

She added: “I’m going to do a bunch [of episodes] until this baby gets too big for me to go to work anymore.”

Chalke will return to Scrubs for six episodes in January alongside co-star Zach Braff.

According to The Gate, Sarah is scheduled to appear in the first 6 episodes of the ninth season of “Scrubs” only…

If you were unsure about the fate of Scrubs, have heart because the Hollywood Reporter/Reuters has news that three new cast members are joining the show for the next season.

Set in a medical school for its latest season, Michael Mosley, Kerry Bishe, and Dave Franco are said to be joining the series as regulars, with John C. McGinley, Donald Faison, and Eliza Coupe returning as well.

The bad news here is that the hilarious Zach Braff and the lovely Sarah Chalke are only confirmed to appear in this season’s first six episodes, and will very likely vanish after that as the focus moves to the medical school.

Throwing in my own two cents here, while I love McGinley as Dr. Cox, and Faison as Turk, the heart of the show has always been Braff, and I’m not sure how they will compensate for that, or it will be successful. All I know is that Braff will be sorely missed if his time on Scrubs is really at an end.

Many SCRUBS have been waited with baited breath to see how creator Bill Lawrence transforms the show from a hospital based comedy to a “med school” based comedy, and while at the Summer TCA Press Tour, iF caught up with him to get the skinny.

Here’s what he had to say …

“I tried to change the title of SCRUBS to SCRUBS MED,” says Lawrence. “I felt we had been writing the ending of SCRUBS for four years, because I thought it was going to be cancelled for four years. It’s a completely different show with some of the same characters. It is tonally the same. [ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson] wants to keep it the SCRUBS brand, but the show takes place in the med school. I’d say it’s like THE PAPER CHASE in a hospital setting.”

Lawrence also notes, Sacred Hearts is actually a teaching hospital, but it was something that was never really emphasized on the show.

“It’s one of the things we always fudged on SCRUBS,” says Lawrence. “We always said it was a teaching hospital, but we never really showed the teaching aspect of it. If any of you know the show, we would fudge it and have little classrooms built on set. This year we built a college campus over at Culver Studios and it looks like a Med School. We put the hospital right on campus, much like the UCLA Hospital is in Westwood and on campus. It’s back and forth with 21-year old students at Med School starting their first day of hospital care.”

Of the cast, John McGinley and Donald Faison are full time cast members with Zach Braff “there for the first six or eight episodes,” says Lawrence.

“The only intern who survived last year was Eliza Coupe who is now a regular on the show,” says Lawrence. “I really liked what she did, but 80 percent of the people are new actors. Three new young actors are testing next week for the parts.”

Another comparison Lawrence offers is the transition that happened when Kelsey Grammer moved from CHEERS to FRASIER.

“FRASIER was very smart, because they moved it to a new location, so it didn’t bother you when you didn’t see Sam and Diane,” says Lawrence. “The way we’re going to be able to get through this, is there is a Med school setting and right across the street is the hospital. When they’re in the hospital, you’ll see all of the familiar faces from the show. Whether it will be the attorney, or The Todd or Sarah Chalke or Judy Reyes or Ken Jenkins or Christa. We created a world in which the hospital still exists and they’re still there.”

And there will be an explanation for the Janitor (Neil Flynn) leaving the show as well.

“He makes up his own stuff, so he just came up with an idea of how his character would have left, because he has his own show to do,” says Lawrence.
